Luke Parkin is one of the younger generation’s most dynamic and intriguing talents. His record archive is comprised of some 69 albums and is evidence of a vast and unprecedented creative mind. Parkin’s potential is almost unlimited in its sheer breadth and musical radius, and his ability to reinvent his sound with every subsequent opus number or album is evidence of a truly multifaceted, accomplished and prodigious artist.
His album WINTER JOURNAL, released this past year, was nominated for a National OMA award for Outstanding Instrumental Album of the year alongside the Pulitzer Prize winning composer David Del Tredici. Parkin has been featured in dozens of music and lifestyle magazines and newspaper publications across the United States and Canada and was recently chosen as print model spokesperson for the 2006/2007 print ad media awareness campaign for the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada and the Tourette Syndrome Association of America.
Parkin’s forthcoming release THINGS I DIDN’T KNOW I LOVED (whose proceeds will benefit both charities) is a double CD set consisting of one hundred minutes of neo-classical piano music, inspired by twentieth- century poets including the celebrated Canadian poet PK Page. This may be Parkin’s most relevant and substantial musical collection to date.
Never arresting his near compulsive creative ethic, Parkin recently finished a series of high powered electronic dance/club singles. He has also recently teamed up with hit singer-songwriter Moira, former lead vocalist to megastar DJ Paul Oakenfold. This album will be released in the summer of 2007.
