A soulful singer-songwriter whose melodic, atmospheric songs feature poetic imagery and intricate yet understated production. "Excellent, stirring, a must-have, and compelling.'' -- Smother Magazine

12 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Folk Pop, ROCK: Acoustic

Editor's Pick... "Amazingly this album was recorded on a PC in an apartment in Manhattan by Kevin and some friends. The music reminds one of Paul Simon and Neil Young playing singer/songwriter tunes. Kevinâs voice is well tuned and rich. You can hear that New York City influence in thereâI truly am blown away that there arenât more adjectives to describe that distinct living-in-the-big-city apartment pop sound. Or at least no more than I can think of. Hereâs a go though: excellent, stirring, a must-have, and compelling.''
- J-Sin, Smother Magazine

Four Stars ("almost perfect'') ... "Kevin Delaney reminds me of Jackson Browne during his 'Running On Empty' heyday. The twelve songs that make up 'Himalayan Moon' are of the same variety as the soulful pop that Browne was such a master at. His vocal style is very similar to Browneâs as well. The lyrics are well written and inspiring. So, what does all this boil down to? Well, I guess Iâm trying to say that if you dig Mr. Browne then you're going to dig Mr. Delaney."
-- Ear Candy Magazine

Four Stars... "If you like Lowen & Navarro, Del Amitri, Peter Himmelman, etc., I think you'll find a new favorite in Kevin Delaneyâ¦plus you have to love a guy that thanks a dog in the liner notes. His voice is pleasing, comforting. A nice match for the subtle, yet well written melodies. 'Vagabond King' could easily be a radio hit.'' -- Amy Lotsberg, Collected Sounds

"Captivating stuff...on a good mainstream radio station, his would be the right voice to advocate real music to the people. It would be if I was in charge, anyway. As producer, Garius Hill has done a fine job, choosing touches of keyboard, piano, cello, sax or mandolin to keep the changes ringing and to accent the emotionally crucial moments.''
-- Whisperin' and Hollerin', Ireland

"Music to chill and reflect to, sheer quality. Manhattan based Delaney crafted this beautiful album in a small apartment using a Sonar equipped computer, cool! The album is a slow melting of soulful murmurings. Delaney's impressive vocals whisper solemnly. 'Dancing to Heaven' is reflective with a bag full of intelligent words: 'The music moved you in all dimensions'. 'Vagabond King' is a highlight and 'The Clouds Are Not the Sky' picks up the pace a little more. Almost country and western with soul, you're talking Neil Young. 'Under Your Own Power' has sweeping pianos and soothes you in a new direction. ... an elegant effort.'' -- GLASSWERK, Liverpool

"Folk pop and ballads make up Himalayan Moon, Kevin Delaney's latest home recorded outing. Don't let the home recording part scare you, there's nothing lo-fi about this album at all. Drawing from his love of vinyl released by such greats as Bob Dylan, Neil Young and the Byrds, Delaney set forth to create something that was uniquely his own, and I believe he did just that. If you dig any of the other artists mentioned in this review then you'll dig this.'' -- BogGob, Chattanooga

''Himalayan Moon'' is the latest chapter in a musical odyssey that began decades ago with the wide-eyed discovery of some tattered vinyl LP's lying next to a primitive hi-fi system. The albums, by the likes of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the Byrds and the Who, were owned by Kevin Delaney's older siblings, but he wasted no time wearing out what few grooves were left. The records awakened a desperate, primal instinct, and a cheap electric guitar was quickly procured. This led to a succession of out-of-tune rock bands that shook the foundations of suburban garages across Long Island. A few years later, inspired by the punk revolution, Kevin switched to bass and helped to found Manhattan new wave bands like Soviet Threat, 1000 Violins, FX and Project Xylophone, even as he managed to begin a successful journalism career. The music got louder and weirder through the years until Kevin and a few friends took a sharp left turn and started the Stumble Brothers, a band dedicated to faithfully recreating the sounds of early country music.
In the 1990's, Kevin discovered a deep love for the English songwriters Nick Drake and Bert Jansch and began concentrating on acoustic guitar. While experimenting with open tunings and delving into Eastern spirituality, a batch of new songs almost mysteriously materialized. They were unlike any Kevin had written previously, featuring moody guitar overtones, atmospheric melodies and poetic, imagistic lyrics. Kevin was soon performing solo in New York clubs like Sine and CBGB's Gallery, as well as in Ireland, his wife's native country. He released a self-recorded, self-produced CD, "Circle Time,''and over the years has gained a dedicated following thanks to intense, pensive performances that are often balanced with humorous and surreal banter.
Around the turn of the millennium, Kevin met the producer and pianist Garius Hill in a Manhattan sandbox where their children were playing. This chance encounter led to the collaboration that created "Himalayan Moon.'' A collection of hauntingly melodic folk/pop ballads, the album is highlighted by a lush yet understated production featuring keyboards, cellos and ambient, echoing electric guitars. "Himalayan Moon'' is a richly eclectic record that incorporates jazz, celtic, classical and even rockabilly sounds. It flows seamlessly and beautifully through 12 unforgettable songs, all sharing Kevin's deeply expressive vocals, transcendent and vivid lyrics and distinctive acoustic guitar.
"May all who listen be moved and inspired.''
