Birthed out of the largest gospel music convention of singers, musicians, directors and songwriters today, the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA), the Los Angeles Young Adult Choir is a group of young, anointed singers and musicians called to spread the gospel through the gift of song. From humble beginnings this choir started as the Los Angeles Youth Choir under the leadership of Saundra Dendy, the late Rev. B.J. Fears and Michael Sanders, Sr.
In 2004, Elder Tony Jones and Sunset Ravenell were commissioned by the GMWA Los Angeles Chapter Representative, Rodena Preston, to take over the leadership of the choir. With a new sound and renewed passion for ministry, the youth choir became the Los Angeles Young Adult Choir. The choir began to gain notoriety for its unique harmonies and uncanny control. Catching the ear of the nation’s top musicians and artist, the choir eventually accompanied such gospel artist as: Donald Lawrence, Ted and Sheri, Brent Jones, Ricky Dillard, Kim Burrell, Tonex, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Calvin B. Rhone and Hezekiah Walker to name a few. This choir was also featured in the video for the chart-topping video, “Unwritten” by Natasha Beddingfield.
Now with the release of their long awaited sophomore project, “New Beginning”, The Los Angeles Young Adult Choir is taking the world by storm. With a mature sound and uncompromised anointing, this choir desires to be an example to young people of how to present excellent music and ministry, while still having fun.
