Details:
Bob August was born the son of poor migrant workers on a farm in New Mexico. Bullcrap. He was actually born the son of middle-class Americans at a hospital in Newark during the turbulent ''60s. Sorry for the confusion.
His early introduction to the piano inspired Bob to write songs of his own -- pounding out tunes as early as age 4 (God help the neighbors) -- but it was at college in Boston during the folk-rock renaissance of the ''80s that August kicked his songwriting into high-gear, melding his melodic McCartney-esque influence with the acoustic sounds of the day.
Eventually he arrived back in the Big Apple, writing songs & gigging around Manhattan & North Jersey by night. By day, August could be heard on New York radio -- & occasionally seen on TV (including a cameo performing the "Lumberjack Song" at the end of Monty Python''s 20th anniversary video -- complete with ''80s hair & Roger McGuinn specs).
The tracks on "Christmas Here" were recorded in Nashville in 2002. There was only enough material for an extended EP, but they sounded damn good so we decided to release the effort as is & knock a few dollars off the price. With the money you save you''ll be able to buy an extra vial-full of gasoline. Don''t spend it all at one station.
