Somewhere between Rock & Pop . . .
If you ask Christine Ely, lead singer of Austin, Texas-based band Bag100, the main thing she wants fans to get from their music, she will simply say, "satisfaction." That is, after all, a worthy request from someone who wears her heart on her sleeve and hopes people relate to what the band has to say. The rest of the band, however, may have a difference of opinion. Guitarist Dave Gilbert, bassist Ryan Redfern, and drummer Ben Mills joined the band primarily to rock and have fun. And fun is the principle the band was built on.

Formed in the spring of 2003 by Christine, Ryan, and then bassist Scotty MC, the band was originally intended to be an acoustic trio that would play songs from their now defunct bands 100 Days and Bag. However, after a handful of coffee-shop gigs and some networking with local bands, the desire to rock got the best of them, and the trio hooked up with drummer Ben Mills of Austin''s Nooner. A few new original tunes and high-energy rock gigs later, they recruited Dave Gilbert, a longtime 100 Days fan, as their new lead guitarist. With strong roots in the Texas music scene, the band easily transitioned into gigging regularly and was able to perfect their stage show, allowing Christine do what she does best as a dynamic front person and stage performer. After a mutual and heartfelt goodbye, Scotty MC chose to part ways with the band so that he could pursue a new career path, and the stage was set for Bag100 to take their next step with Ryan now on bass.

Their next step was clear. They needed to produce a CD. During the summer and fall of 2005, the band embarked on a recording journey that brought their concept of a half electric, half acoustic album to life. Those sessions with producer David Dreesen at Jacketweather Records in Austin are what evolved into their 10-song debut CD, Everywhere Everything Everytime. The album is a rocker drenched in guitar, drive, heart, and hooks, and it moves easily from the rock angst of the title track all the way through to the beautiful acoustic album closer, "Sweet Salvation." Not to go unnoticed as well-rounded musicians, the band even throws in a jazz cover as a throwback to their coffee-shop beginnings.

This is a band that is ready for anything, anytime, anywhere. They rock. They keep the crowd engaged with their energetic live shows, and even through the heart-felt words, to which they do hope people can relate, they definitely keep the whole package exciting and fun.
