In the former GDR (eastern part of Germany) the Triola was produced since the 6oth. It was developed as a children's instrument and is built in the current rectangular shape since 1988. SEYDEL manufactures the Triola since 1993. Until now reed tuning and assembly of the instruments is hand-work!
In the GDR the Triola was very popular and wide-spread in kindergardens where it was used for early musical education. At the moment there is a revival of the Triola especially in England, where the Triola is a successful part of musical lessons in schools!
