Offer NEW Jazz Lullaby CD for Families
Frustrated by the lack of baby music that lulls a little one to sleep and, at the same time, won’t drive parents nuts, Phil and Tiffany Davis have developed a ‘sleep-time solution’ that the whole family can enjoy. Classic Jazz Lullabies: Volume 1 debuts this week and was developed by Grammy award-winning Producer, Phil Davis, and his multi-talented wife, Tiffany Davis. The CD features traditional songs like “Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep,” “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” and “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” but while the words are familiar the upbeat tunes and rhythmic beats will forever change the melodies that have lived in our heads for generations. The birth of the project coincided with the birth of Phil and Tiffany’s third child when Tiffany went shopping for new baby music. “I found myself asking, ‘Why isn''t there any music that is jazz-based? Where is the variety?’” Tiffany recalls on one shopping trip at a popular baby store. “Then God said, ‘You do it. Make the music you are looking for.’"
Classic Jazz Lullabies: Volume 1 is a musical journey like none you have ever experienced. The concept behind Classic Jazz Lullabies is to introduce to the world a traditional lullaby with a jazz interpretation. The unique nature of jazz lends itself to a myriad of voices, colors and sounds. Applying the jazz tradition to lullabies allows the listener to blend the aforementioned elements to “paint their own pictures” while nurturing a spirit of comfort and relaxation. “We see this as something parents can incorporate into their bedtime routine or use it themselves as a relaxation tool while reminiscing about their childhood,” say Phil Davis.
As parents of three children, Phil and Tiffany have experienced how music provides a way for them to bond with their children. “Our kids love it,” they say. “We incorporated their voices in one of the tracks ‘Man in the Moon.’ Joanna, our 2 year old, sings along on most of the songs at bedtime.”
Studies show and psychologists agree there is a strong link between music and early cognitive development. Music can also build language skills and provide a solid foundation for early learning. Phil and Tiffany have surrounded their children with music since they were in the womb. Classic Jazz Lullabies: Volume 1 is their way of sharing their creative learning tool with other parents. “We’ve always tried to expose our children to activities that allow them to grow and flourish. Music has facilitated that exposure.”

Music is widely used to promote a sense of well-being, improve mood and decrease anxiety, and promote relationship-centered care. Playing music in the home can help to create a calm and soothing environment where children can learn to focus and self-soothe. Similar to classical music, jazz music is not only enjoyable but can also help to promote cognitive abilities including attention and memory, thereby enhancing learning. As a mental health professional I use this music for relaxation and meditation as this particular arrangement appears to have direct physiological effects through the autonomic nervous system. Parents who value and understand the benefits of good mental hygiene will find this music to be an enjoyable experience that they can share with their children.” -Anissa Moody, PhD (Clinical Psychology)
Like most parents of small children, I know one thing - music is magic! Have a grumpy toddler? Put on a silly song! Want to teach the alphabet? Sing the alphabet song! Want to soothe a fussy baby? Hum a peaceful lullaby! This music not only helps with mood, but it helps babies to learn how to talk, how to dance, how to listen and how to express themselves nonverbally. Enjoy.” - Tanya Jacobs, Mother of 3
As a life-long student and professor of cognition, I am well versed on the benefits of music exposure and early brain development. Research suggests that there are parallels between language and music development among children starting before birth. Children that are engaged in verbal communication and exposed to music in the early years of life tend to develop better sensitivities for language and music, respectively. As a parent of preschoolers, I have experienced the value of exposure to music had the power to soothe my mental state as well as create a relaxed state for my children. I am positive that by introducing this CD to your children, you will create those lasting bonds that will create a life-long love for musical expression and cognitive development that may enhance learning.” -Henraya F.
