My album You started It is titled that not only because of the song, but because it’s a tribute to my sister, she started all of this for me.
“For You” is something I wrote for someone I love, it’s a song that I want people to feel and appreciate the love that they have in their life. People don’t take commitment and marriage seriously anymore, all you hear about is divorce and affairs, this song is meant to make people realize what they have in front of them is perfect and not to take it for granted.
“Madness” was intended for my friends band, M16 but the meaning behind it is sometimes people slip into places they need help getting out of.
“In a Moment” was written on my daughter’s first day back to school this year. It’s hard to realize my baby is 8! That song was my way of remembering how it was when she was little and how fast time seems to pass.
“Can’t You Tell” was written about a friend of mine. She so obviously was in love with this guy and he just didn’t see it. Now they’re together and I’ve never seen her happier.
“The Truth” Who can’t say that they were warned from the start that this guy is no good, but you fall for him anyways and find out the hard way.
“It’s Gone” a very personal song to me that I’d rather not go into detail about, but it goes back to that “taking someone for granite” thing I was talking about earlier.
“You Started It” I LOVE Stephanie Myers and all the Twilight series books, this song depicts both a fantasy end of it and a reality. The chorus you may have saved me but you killed me first is like a relationship gone bad, at first they made you feel so great but then they crush you and take it all away. It also goes with the whole vampire thing.
“Only You” Who doesn’t know someone that is self centered and will never grow up? This song is meant to send a message to those kind of people, life moves on with or with out you and in the end if you don’t change you’ll be nothing but alone.
“Trickster” One of the songs I performed in the CRGT finals. I was in a bar one night and noticed this girl that goes there a lot. She’s always leaving with someone, married men, men in relationships, who ever she can get. I wrote it on a napkin that night right after I said out loud to my friends “What kind of woman is she?!”
“You Don’t See” Another relationship reference. Sometimes someone is so in love with someone but the other person doesn’t feel the same way. It sucks when that happens!
“Choices” is one of the first songs I ever wrote, I was lonely and in a bad place but felt that ever decision in my life had got me there. Sometimes you wish you could go back and change things because you know you could do so much better.
“Girl Next Door” I love the show Secret diaries of a call girl on Shotime, this song was based a lot on the main character. She makes men feel like no woman has ever made them feel but it’s all lies and they would never suspect a thing.
“In Me” is a last song on this album. It’s personal to me because at so many points in my life I feel I’ve let people down. I am who I am, music is me, and I finally realized that without music I’m not me, I’m someone I hate.
