The Lisa Young Quartet - essentially a Jazz/World music ensemble, is a collaboration with the intuitive musicality of Ben Robertson (Double Bass), Steve Magnusson (Guitar) and Dave Beck (Drums). Their latest album ''GRACE'' represents a diverse musical journey, combining a crossover of Indian and African influences with an improvisational approach. The wordless pieces provide a basis for ensemble dialogue, while the works in song form express her soulful interpretation of contemporary life.
Young has thrice been to India for advanced Konnakkol lessons with mridangam virtuoso Kaaraikudi Mani. For 2008-09 she received an Australia Council Project Fellowship enabling her to further her study in India with Guru Mani, and compose a new series of works for her quartet.

‘ a beautiful CD, which represents the sum of Young’s musical journey so far. There are striking passages of konnakol that reflect Young’s exploration of Indian music, filtered through her own creative prism. And of course, there is the interplay that comes from her love of jazz … captivating musical tales’ Jessica Nicholas, The Age, 2006.
