RE-THINK CHURCH
Four times a week a wonderfully diverse mix of God''s children, rich and poor, black and white, gay and straight, gather for worship at the United Methodist Church for All People, an inner city congregation on the South side of Columbus Ohio.
Through many community ministries, the Church for All People strives to create "10,000 doors" through which people are welcomed just as they are and invited to be transformed.
RE-THINK CHURCH MUSIC
The All People Band helps open "doors" by creating and playing music in styles as diverse at the community itself. Vocalists and musicians work together to "renovate" old hymns, find or wrote new songs, and creatively express the gospel in musical styles and words that connect with today''s culture, yet still convey the radical message of Christ.
The Harmony on the Southside program reaches into the community with opportunities to hear, learn and make music. People who may face many economic physical and emotional challenges find joy, comfort and self-esteem. Free community concerts by the All People Band have an underlying mission to promote unity in the midst of diversity and create peacful neighborhoods. The final track of the CD, "Laugh, Laugh, Laugh" is typical of the kind of music that might be heard at concerts along with other songs with a positive message, both secular and religious.
