Details:
The idea of doing a solo CD came about when I realized that my tenure in LA was about to come to an abrupt end for reasons of a pursuit of greater career interests. It had become abundantly clear all at once that I had carved some pretty invaluable friendships with a handful of great musicians throughout the greater Los Angles area during my time here, some old friends, some new, each one being a part of my immediate musical family as a result of playing gigs together, appearing on recording together, and spending countless evening jamming on favorite tunes in each others'' living rooms. We got to thinking that it might be a good idea to assemble some of these folks and perhaps put a few tracks on tape if for no other reason than to capture a moment in time. With that in mind, we got together for a few days in the summer of 2008 and recorded these songs in Dave Chamberlin''s Woodland Hills studio. Most of the songs are originals... there are however a few exceptions... like the couple of numbers previously recorded by Jorma Kaunkonin, and Mississippi John Hurt. I should also mention David Lightborne, a great folk artist who supplied Blues Keep Away.

The result was an incredible collection of original tunes that feature great musicianship, great lyrics and a really mellow feel.

Thank you to Mike McClellan for 25 years of gigs, Paul McCallum for endless inspiration on the guitar, Jim Bergman for his willingness to take time from his busy musical schedule for the occasional collaboration with me, Dave Chamberlin for stepping in percussion, killer dobro solos, and the generous use of his studio, and the Smokin'' J''s for helping breathe life into these tunes.
