Details:
Arlo Gilliam is a singer/songwriter and musician originally from Whitwell, TN. “I used to listen to anything I could get away with growing up. Back then, my parents were pretty heavy into church, so I had to sneak around if I wanted to listen to anything that wasn’t country or gospel.” He studied old sixties and seventies rock and roll tunes by listening to his favorites. “I used to love Lynyrd Skynyrd, Guns N’ Roses, and all the hair band stuff. However, Jim Croce was a huge influence on me, believe it or not. I guess Jim Croce kind of taught me how to play.” After performing locally for a few years, Arlo moved to Nashville in 2001 to seriously pursue a career in the music industry. Playing the downtown clubs of Nashville and working as a studio musician, he was able to become a regionally known performer. He eventually landed a job playing bass guitar and singing background vocals for Sony/Columbia recording artist Trent Willmon. That opportunity has allowed him to play at venues across the country, as well as television shows like The Food Network’s “Emeril Live” and Great American Country’s “Straight Up” and “Country Across America”. He has made a name for himself in the Nashville songwriting community over the years. Arlo has written with some of the most well known songwriters in country music and has pulled that knowledge and inspiration together on his self-titled debut album. This independent release showcases the raw talent that exudes from the Tennessee native. Having penned all songs on the album, this release truly represents the southern roots of this Americana/Country artist.
