Details:
Delicately crafted to achieve both subtle and climactic results, If We Are Machines have found their sonic niche and know exactly what to do with it. Their forthcoming album entitled, Crafty Things to Make Pretty Things to Burn Later, is direct evidence of this. Blending their unique sound of layered, effected guitars with driving rhythms, it’s most definitely a welcoming invitation to this collective’s musical imaginings.

If We are Machines is the brainchild of musicians Michael Kraushaar (Vocals/Guitar), Jason Lehr (Drums), Aaron Davidson (Guitar/Keys), and Brad Wilde (Bass). After forming in 2001, Aaron, Brad & Jason spent the next several years writing together, as well as trying their hands in other projects before solidifying in 2007. Singer Michael Kraushaar was added soon after, and together, they have produced a divergent sound employing both atmosphere, and passion.

Embracing the natural energy and musical chemistry between four friends, IWAM have captured this essence and implored it throughout their record. Creatively based upon honest self-examination and complex narratives, Crafty Things to Make Pretty Things to Burn Later, stands confidently as an effects-driven, indie-rock powerhouse begging for multiple listens. Inspired by notable acts such as The Clash, Pink Floyd, Dredg & Mute Math, IWAM captures their love for the genre while conceiving something entirely unique on their own.

Overseen by Producer/Engineer Michael Kraushaar (Black Wizard), this record was conceived at the newly built tracking room located in Bully’s Rehearsal Studios in New Westminster, BC, also doubling as the band’s jam space. The album maintains a do-it-yourself aesthetic, capturing the band’s modest sound but never sounding cheap. Ready for mixing, the album was sent to Fadermaster Studios in Vancouver, BC with engineer Paul Boechler (Treelines, Kingdom Cloud, Jordan Klassen, Cairo) and then for mastering by Paul Gold (Animal collective, Grizzly Bear, Dirty Projectors) at Salt Mastering in Brooklyn, NY.
