"QMB''s new album Up From the Dust features riveting riffs, solid vocals, all with the excitement of their captivating live show." -Dan Hirshburg The NJ Herald
The Quimby Mountain Band was formed in 2005 in the mountains of northwest New Jersey. The band began its career playing covers which ranged from Jimi Hendrix to ZZ Top to James Brown, and quickly gained a following. Despite the fact that most of the members were teenagers at this time, they played in many local bars, and other varied venues--colleges, parties, festivals, fundraisers, mental hospitals, etc. Within these first years, the band shifted gears and began writing their own songs and by the of summer of 2007 had released an eleven song LP. After winning the NJ state battle of the bands, their music has been played on multiple radio stations including Max 106.3, 1510 WRNJ, 103.7, 91.9 WNTI, and Monmouth University 88.9. The QMB has now performed with national acts including The Radiators, Keller Williams, and The New Riders of the Purple Sage at such venues as Mexicali Blues, Sullivan Hall, and The Stone Pony. As well, they have been featured in various articles and have performed in many summer festivals including Skylands Art and Music Fest in Knowlton, NJ, Phanfest in PA, and Wagnerstock in New York.
Although the QMB has generally been associated with the jam scene, their harder edged sound and shorter song structures have set them apart from many of their shared bills. Also, the band is known for capturing a varied audience. From country folk to urban hipsters, kids to adults, the poor to the rich, The Quimby Mountain Band seems to be accepted wherever it plays.
