Details:
The names Reinig, Braun + Böhm have come to stand for Palatinate folk music without false “folksiness” and for a varied song repertoire of depth and substance. The trio has become a fixture in the cultural landscape of the Palatinate.
“Johreszeide” is a concept album that revolves around the four seasons in the Palatinate region. The musical spectrum extends from folk music via chanson, blues and rock ‘n roll, to chamber music elements. In 2005, this CD, the band’s second release, was awarded the Dr. Wilhelm Dautermann Prize as the best new release in Palatinate dialect.
The collaboration with noted cellist Charlotte Lettenbauer, as well as the magnificent contributions of three Breton guest musicians, Eric Liorzou, Loic Leborgne, and Bernards Quillen of the band BLEIZ RUZ, made for a fascinating, multi-layered, and sophisticated folk music album.
Quality is assured by the lyrics provided by a renowned roster of poets in Palatinate dialect: Michael Bauer, Bruno Hain, Peter Schraß, Gisela Gall, Peter Weißgerber, Thomas Sattel, Gerd Heger. Poetic moods and autumnal blues, romanticism and self-irony mirror the contrasting seasons of summer and winter, spring and fall.
"An all-around successful album at the highest level of sophistication. Top notch folk music."
DIE RHEINPFALZ, 04.02.2005
"highly inventive, full of substance, entertaining and sophisticated."

"a real folk music album that manages to convince the listener… an all-around successful record that once again proves that music from the Palatinate can indeed be enjoyed uninebriated outside of wine-drenched festivities. A must for folk music fans. Fans of celtic sounds and hand-made music won’t go wrong here either…"
