Details:
This is the fourth Sergio Montoya album and Part III of the Gaijin Toroku Trilogy. FEATURING Gino Montoya on Guitar and Vocals and Sergio Montoya on Drums and Flashlight. The brothers have been dragged far away from home by a strong wind storm and, as they regain composure and dust off their clothes, they come across a desolate hut in the middle of the dessert. They look at each other and try to speak but their voices are taken away by the wind. We look around in full 360 degrees and when we get back we find the brothers have vanished. We look down and coming from the sand we see surfacing a black, round, shiny object. The ground shakes and thunder sounds in the distance. Only a lizard remains and on his skin, the reflection of a black disc.
About Sergio Montoya:
Sergio Montoya is an indie multi-instrumentalist from Perú. He grew up in Lima until his family moved to Costa Rica where he studied music and percussion. In 2000 he founded the eRRatic Music DIY label while in Lodon and later re-located to Seattle to form the Shing-a-ling Boogaloo duo MONTOYA with his brother Gino.
MONTOYA is currently in Austin and have recorded four albums on eRRatic. In 2008 Sergio wrote the soundtrack for the film MEMORY, directed by Gino.
About the Album:
bLACK dISCO is Part III of the Gaijin Toroku Trilogy. It contains 11 tracks with styles ranging from Underground Pop-Punk to Short Progressive Instrumentals (via 70''s jazzed mysterioso efforts). The songs are in Spanish (with subtitles on the inside sleeve) and the mood on Side A is rather pessimistic with a more positive outlook on Side B .
The subject for the lyrics are birth, love, deceit, death and redemption, and the style is straight ahead with the occasional surrealistic hue. This recording was captured DIY style and performed using electric drums, DI bass, keyboards and guitar and voice through an SM57. bLACK dISCO also features Gino on lead guitar and vocals.
