Michael Dubin was born in Chicago and exposed early to the worlds greatest drummers at the legendary Franks Drum Shop owned by Grandfather (drummer) Maurie Lishon. Michael received his first drums set at age two specially made by Franks repair man Clarence Williams. Since then Michael has studied drums with Phil Stanger, Freddie Gruber, Greg Bissonette, and Leon Mobley; played drums with Los Angeles finest Jazz musicians including Black Note and Vernell Brown Jr.(Kenny Garret), The Maestro Delbert Taylor and Bassist Clarence Robinson, Singers: Mikki Coletrane, Ann Keeler, and the late fabulously French Nicole Martel, Royal Caribbean Cruise Ships with Vegas Lounge Veteran Danny Gale, gigs in Rome, Italy with Singer Jeffrey Jones, and is currently working the top rated show A Night with Paul Lynde staring Michael Airington. The fabulous Lynde Airs band is Musical Director Gary Busby, Brian Reardon (guitar), and Steve Bringleson (bass) and Mike on Drums. Michael is also the house drummer for the Pickering Street Players who''s show have included Nightmare Before Christmas, Fiddler On the Roof, and Annie with Musical Director Paul Cady. In 1983 Michael fell in love with the guitar which he learned to play from All Star Frogs and CY Walkin alumni Erik Krogh (bass) who was renting a room in Michael''s childhood home. Champagne IL guitarist Keith Harden was also a frequent guest and teacher while crashing on Michael''s mother''s couch. Michael has since played guitar with Harold Pullum (James Brown, B.B. King), Brad Pie (Johnny Otis Band), Robin Russell (New Birth, Johnny Guitar Watson, Little Richard). Michael plays bass, piano, percussion, and sings. He also leads, The Dubin Collective, a jazz ensemble featuring Michael on drums, Angel Lebron congas, DJ Bonebrake vibes, Shea Welsh guitar, and Michael Fortunato trumpet. Brother BJ is a frequent musical collaborator with whom they both shared the honor of playing a concert for Babatunde Olatunji at Esalen Inst. in Big Sur. And In 2004-2005 Michael co-taught three outstanding jazz ensembles at the prestigious New Roads High School in Santa Monica, California. He has been a Visiting Teacher at Esalen Inst., and taught the Pop Rock Guitar Class at USC. Michael has also recently produced tracks for BJ Dubin''s forth coming CD and Wayne O-Mills. Scored the short film by Jaret Sacrey Elements with a live to disc improvised jazz score. And has been writing for Harold Pullum and The Dubin Collective. Also in the works is a solo instrumental CD mixing jazz, blues, latin, and funk rhythms.
