HIP HOP/RAP: Hip Hop, HIP HOP/RAP: Southern Style

Details:
Coming straight out of San Antonio, Texas, DEFCON displays the ultimate blend of southern sound with a twist of jazz, then wrapped in a Hip Hop shell with a little west coast feel. Consisting of four core members, this quartet has raised the bar and set the standard for their local predecessors. Lokey, Charlie “Pretty Boy” Floyd, Kastadean, and J-Dubb have come together from Louisiana, San Antonio, Virginia, and Los Angeles to unite and give San Antonio a voice in the rap world. Tabetha Thorpe of Aftermath records said, "This is a fresh new sound for the south market". Tony Patterson of Southern Vibe Records stated that "It''s really good; your sound is different". Whether it''s for the club or the streets DEFCON has a winner.

Currently promoting for their future debut album "Threat Level", they will be performing at Texas Southern University, the annual San Antonio Soul-food Festival, The Taste of New Orleans, Sunset Station and various upcoming shows. When they are not honing their skills on stage this production wrecking crew laces beats for all occasions, from gangsta beats to melodic moods then back to pimpin; these guys show you their versatility to overcome the ordinary. Coming soon through your nearest speaker is the San Antonio classic "Lethal". This song will make any club reverberate with excitement, and while "Girlz Rule my World" make the ladies wanna dance, "Go Getta" lets the gangsta lean back; you can''t go wrong with DEFCON.

Although the group resides and found their chemistry in San Antonio, it is anything but solely San Antonio. Lokey, the eldest member is a native San Antonian but was raised in Los Angeles, and is no rookie when it comes to performing. He has toured twice as a back up dancer, and has worked with legendary artists such as Ton Loc, Def Jef, D.J. Quick, & Battlecat. This smooth-talking track master has stood the test of time and displays it for all to see. Charlie Floyd, born in Louisiana, but hailing from Hampton Roads, Virginia, is a former soldier who completed his final tour of duty in San Antonio. Well versed in rhyme, he displays east flavor that can be compared to none, and adds the gold lining to any track he touches. Kastadean is originally from North Carolina but was raised in San Antonio. He who is also known as the “beast of the block,” and comes in with a boom with catchy southern hooks sprinkled with hood stories that tantalize your imagination. J-Dubb, who was raised in San Antonio, born in Louisiana is simply raw talent. His colorful freestyle riffs defy barriers in the urban genre while daring you to enter his world of grinding. This mixture creates a melody that is so cohesive it may boggle the mind and set examples at the same time.

In a time where everyone questions the state of rap/hip hop, once-timeless tales of a culture and its life are now being replaced by the mundane, ordinary “bragging” song which is constantly being beaten into our heads by radio disc jockeys. DEFCON was formed with the intent to rejuvenate rap and hip hop; take it back to good music with its diversity. On a local, perhaps more personal scale, the group is intent on breaking San Antonio away from its consumed idea that it has to immulate a certain Texas City to the east. They want to inspire San Antonio artists to strive for their own identity by using their untapped creativity to produce unique music. Through “Threat Level”, the members hope to begin to accomplish these intentions. Urban music is in a state of emergency, and from that state of emergency the threat level has arisen...the Threat Level is DEFCON!
