Night Train (Gussow.mov)

ADVANCED BEGINNER / INTERMEDIATE. A QuickTime video tutorial focused on a famous two-chorus jazz/blues head, "Night Train," adapted for blues harmonica by Adam Gussow. "Night Train" has been recorded by various artists, including James Brown and Jimmy Forest; Gussow works up King Curtis's uptempo saxophone shuffle into a fun and playable arrangement.

Technical challenges include two distinct bends on the 3 draw and some brisk eighth-note runs in the middle octave. Optional tongue-blocked octaves. This lesson falls squarely into the INTERMEDIATE range. ADVANCED BEGINNERS will be able to play most of this, but will have somewhat more trouble executing the 3 draw bends.
