What is a mystic?
The term seems ancient, and there are so many meanings available that the definition remains unclear. In the shortest explanation, the word means mysterious.
That is certainly true. Mystics are mysterious. But, I feel it is conditioned behavior due to the demise of many of their predecessors over the last several thousands of years.
According to history, mystics have been burned, beaten, shot, maimed and crucified for their viewpoints. But, their truths continue after their demise, often used by others as holy books, collections of wisdom often spurring world changes.
Mystics are notorious for being troublemakers. They are known for ultimately taking to their own counsel, instead of following the crowd in certain matters such as religion, politics, etc. History will, from time to time, state that mystics are in continual
communication with God. While this may be true, the only mystics given this ominous
recognition are those that have been smart enough to exclude the information given to
them by God that doesnt necessarily fit within the dogma of whatever organized religion they identify themselves with.
Mystics will tell the truth, at whatever cost. When it comes to the existence of life which remains unseen by others, but is so very clear in their eyes, they are willing to die in order to prove their convictions. But, before doing so, they attempt to prove the truth of their convictions, by telling their own story.
And here, in the noble tradition of my predecessors, is mine.
